William Kleinsasser

October, 8 (Monday) 2012 at 8:00 PM in the MEIT Guest Composer William Kleinsasser's compositions range from acoustic chamber and orchestral pieces to interactive computer music. The latter genre will be featured in Monday's concert: Kleinsasser's featured works will include Serotonin for piccolo and computer, written for and performed by UNT's Elizabeth McNutt; Adrenaline for four trombones and computer; Adagio (amore) for alto flute, clarinet, percussion and computer; and Four Interludes for eight-channel electroacoustic music. Kleinsasser's music will be complemented by works from UNT faculty. Elizabeth McNutt will give the world premiere Jon Christopher Nelson's Bebop in the Forest of Lonely Rhythms for flute and computer; new composition faculty member Panayiotis Kokoras will present his electroacoustic composition Anechoic Pulse; and Rachel Yoder will perform Andrew May's Chant/Songe for clarinet and computer. Other performers will include Lisa Bost-Sandberg, Julie Gray, Greg Moose, Connor O’Meara, Evan Sankey, Peter Soroka, and Jeremiah Stones. William Kleinsasser joins us from Baltimore, Maryland, where he is professor of composition and related studies at Towson University and Director of the New Music Ensemble. In addition to the evening concert, he will present a lecture on his music in the Music Now series at 11 am on the same day.
