NoiseFold, with guest cellist Frances-Marie Uitti

NoiseFold will be presenting a program with guest cellist Frances-Marie Uitti on two nights: September 26 and 27, 2011 (Monday and Tuesday) at 8:00 PM in the MEIT. This evening’s performance brings together the live cinema and sound art of NoiseFold with renown cellist, composer and acclaimed musical innovator, Frances-Marie Uitti. Working at the confluence of artificial life (A-Life) and instrumental improvisation, NoiseFold have refined a bio-mimetic infused abstract cinema in the form of a contemporary musical expression. Their work is described as, "a powerful synaesthetic experience where noise, music and image interact on a symphonic scale". Recently Metcalf and Stout have expanded their approach to include adventurous collaborations with accomplished acoustic instrumentalists. NoiseFold is joined by Frances-Marie Uitti, who will alternately drive the audio-visual phenomena with her cello, or acoustically augment the electronic sound and images unfolding at the hands of the NoiseFold performers. Ms. Uitti has worked with the greatest composers of the past 50 years, developing a unique multi-bow playing style and an avid following in the process. This a rare must see event for US audiences.
